Day 1: Mekele – Hamed Ela – Dallol Excursion
- Early morning departure from Mekele by 4WD convoy
- Pass through desert landscapes and small Afar settlements
- Arrive at Hamed Ela and have lunch at a local base camp
- Afternoon drive to Dallol to explore its colorful hydrothermal fields, salt formations, and sulfur lakes
- Visit Lake Asale for a stunning sunset over the salt flats
- Witness camel caravans transporting salt slabs across the desert
- Dinner and overnight at a basic camp in Hamed Ela (under the stars)
